Worm ID please (with pic)

These things are like little black hairs. Any idea? Whey scrunch up when you touch them. They are all over the tank: sand, glass, rocks. They seem to like to hang out in brown algae.

PS: Posted this in the newbie forum a week or two ago also.
 
Chuck doesn't have any worms on his site that are this small. I suspect they're polychaetes but there's absolutely no way I can really tell from that image, sorry.
 
Thanks for your help everyone. 10 days after they appeared, they are almost all gone. Yesterday I noticed their numbers lower and today there are not many left.

Hi Leslie,

Just spotted your sig. I do the planetarium shows for the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
 
So I need to pay more attention to the small worms hey?...lol, am sure with a bit of sand sifting I can come up with a few to add to my collection, with Leslie's help of course, would be at a loss without her.
