Worried about BTAs

I've had my BTA for over three years in a 180. It has since split into 3. I have a Nova Extreme Pro light. It was always doing well but over the last month they have not expanded as much and just don't look as well. Not bad, just not as robust. I added a Fiji Leather about 6 months ago. Might the leather be releasing toxins that are injurious to anemones? Temp is 80, SG is 1.027 (a little higher than usual- I try to keep it at 1.025), Mg 1340, kH 7.7. I use an API test for nitrate, which I am not fond of, but it reads around 5. I'm going on vacation in a couple of days, but I'm planning on a large water change. Any thought woukd be much appreciated.

Do you have a pic? You need to be more specific about your lighting. How many watts? When was the last time you changed your bulbs? Do you test for phosphates?
I wouldn't be too worried about the leather, unless it is constantly being stressed/bothered.
