I know it is hard to believe but I was at Pets a Warehouse in NY. The stores name one forums is FAVIAFREAK, don't support this abuse.

I went to PetsWarehouse and was shocked at what I saw. A near 3 foot shark in a 72 gallon tank. The sharl was cut up and the cuts were infected. The shark also had gill flukes or a similar parasite.

I wanted to buy it but the employee told me $250. The employee told me the shark was in perfect health and needed a little melaflex. He did use the work perfect. That shark in perfect health should not be over $150. I wanted to buy it but did not want to support a store taphat abuses fish like this. That shark is destined to die prematurely if he does not get a better home. The condition that shark was in the store should sell it at cost and be happy if someone buys it. It is hard enough selling large sharks. Selling ones in that condition is near impossible.

What is even more disturbing is that I posted this on my local fourm and some of the moderators are covering it up and claiming that the shark is in great care. Pictures to come.

I get what your saying and totally agree. But you should not buy a fish like that, even to save it. It will only reinforce to the store that there is a market for them and will order a new shark to sell again. I'm not sure I've ever met someone with the ability to house a full grown 8 foot nurse shark, they really should be left in the ocean.

Pet Warehouse.

Fishome you are right about reenforcing bad behavior. The term rescue is overused. I have a 12ft round pond and I know a nurse is out of my league. I hate when people give shark keepers a bad name.

cant really tell anything by that video. not standing up for PW, but they are one of the better stores around the area IMO. not sure i would make a decision on a store based on someone on a forum whos made 2 negative bashing threads and their name is shark bait (who are you baiting?) 420 (what are you smoking?).

ill never side with someone in an argument who wants to argue for keeping sharks. they are best left in the ocean, and thats more than an opinion. its a fact.

that's not true, you can clearly see the size of the tank in the video. fish are going to get sick in fish stores, there's no way around that. to me the health of shark does not change the fact that it is in such a small tank.
I don't really see sharkbait arguing for keeping sharks, if anything he's saying the store is not equipped to keep them. His two threads seem to offer pretty straight forward feedback.

I am not asking you to base your opinion on what I say. Look at the pictures and videos. Wouldn't say its a fact no one should keep sharks. I hate having this discussion with close minded people. If you are open minded I will love the opportunity to change your mind about sharks in the aquarium. Don't judge all shark keepers based on this one incident. No smoking for me. I am subject to random drug testing. My bday is April 20. No jailbait for me.
