yesterday i recieved a new digital thermometer, this morning i wake up and my tank is 87 degrees!! i lowerd it back to 81 slowly, now thats the BEST part(with the new sumbmersable heater i have rasied my water so its like at the bottom lip of the black plastic thing on the top of the tank if you know what i mean)...

next i sart looking for my scooter blenny.. i finally found him, as skinny as a twig JUST barley hanging on to life, i come back an hour later, dead.....

THEN like 10 minutes ago i saw my clowns fighting the worst ever i saw 1 clown FLY to the top of the tank, i was worried it had jumped, so i look around the stand and the floor , couldnt find it... then while im looking in the tank i feel sumthing land on my foot, the clown had been hiding under the stand somewhere and had flopped over to me... by the time i could pick it up with the net, it was dead...

so now im 2 fish down in the matter of hours, one from jumping and one from malnutrition... this is the start of the worst day for my tank EVER

I'm sorry about your fish, but don't you think you should let things settle down and fix some of the tank's problems (temp)before you add more livestock...?

Bring the temperature down slowly. ...I know you want to fix things NOW but change in a tank should be measured in 12-24 hour periods.

Go fishless until you can balance that temperature: I hate to tell you it took me a month of creative work...I got two thermometers, took every single lid off sump and tank, lowered my heater thermostat to 72, got timers for my lights, regulated the light-on [high heat] period to balance the situation, and still have to keep an eagle eye on the weather report. A series of cool nights gets deceptive, but as we get into summer, a series of warm nights can create a heat buildup that's very treacherous. You may want to get a fan for your sump and possibly for your tank, and put it on a timer to run during the hours the lights are on. That will balance against the cooler night. As the temperature gets worse, you may need to run the fan 24 hours.

Once you get the tank to where it doesn't vary more than 2 degrees up or down, then you can start re-stocking safely, and won't have any more such mischances.

Great sympathy. We've all been there, in one way or another.

If you need somewhere to store anything as you get stuff right, I can store things in my tank for you. corals in my 125, fish in my 29. (don't want to chase fish in and out of rock work on the 125). If I can do anything to help, let me know.
