Worth saving sand?

I moved recently, and decided to have less sand in my DT.

I have about between a 3rd and a 4th of a 5 gallon bucket.

I know it can be expensive, and I am wondering if it is worth saving, or should I just throw it out?

I don't want to put in in my fuge... I dont want to create additional cleaning duties.

Most questions on this forum elicit conflicting advice, opinions etc. Saving sand - almost universal agreement with "toss it".

Not sure where you are from, but around here, this time of year, old sand makes for great traction on the ice

I would definitely keep it. Just give it a good rinse and try to dry it out if you can.

Who knows, another tank might be in your future...

I'd keep it. You won't go wrong tossing it but if I don't want to have to buy new later, or would consider another use for it (I have 150+ lbs in storage right now and only 35 or so in my 40B) I keep sand. The Missus knows when we get a house I'm putting in a big tank (200-250g) and that sand I have stored is going in it. Or maybe I'll just use it for a remote DSB. Either way, it's a couple hundred bucks I don't want to throw away.

I keep mine and reuse it. It's not that hard to clean and will be recolonized even if it all dries out.
