Would high calcium cause tips on some SPS to have STN/Bleaching?

It will take more than a few days for corals to respond.I had problems with my tank, and could still see fall out from the problems a month later. What you did now,it takes awhile to see the results,as for damage that was done. Some of these corals it takes awhile for it to effect them. But corals just don't respond that quick.Even I've scene where some of the corals weren't effected right away. But a week or so later,it appears then.Just keep your fingers crossed, that everything will hold it's own.

Maybe you can help me out if you dont mind.

I did turn off the Kalk reactor and Deltec 600s for 3 days to let calcium come down. I add ALK/PH booster to correct my low Alk issues.

I started to run the Kalk reactor to help stabilize my PH because of the hot summers we get here on the East Coast and my house always being closed up. I run all top off water through the Kalk reactor and was running my Deltec 600s just 5 hours, but now have it turned off.

I have never run kalk reactor but have read many times of people using it for topoff water.

Do you have advise on how to balance both or the best way to run both to maximize the benefits of both?

Many of my prized corals are not looking good and stress/frustration has really set in so any help is much appreciated.

Well i try to help i also live close to you so my home also is all closed up always.:p
so i got the kalk reactor to balance the ph drop i was getting specially at night.
But what i find out the kalc reactor along was enough to keep everything in good order .
So even setting up to run the Deltec reactor for 5 hours a day it was just to much .
So here what i did and still had problems .
I run the deltec reactor 24/7 very slow on C02 about 30 BPM and I try not to use to much kalk in the kalk reactor.
this was better but not foolproof .
So i had to cut back the kalk some more the problem is you have no control with the kalk reactor water gets low it pumps water in the tank full of kalk yes the PH is stable but everything else is of the roof so i had no choice to take the kalk reactor off line "no kalk in the reactor now ".
If you like to use it try to use very little kalk in the reactor to see if you can balance it .
You also have a bigger Calcium reactor than me so you have more work to do . Just keep testing and see if you can get it in balance.
I know you don't like me to tell you this but it was just to much work to keep them both running at the same time . I rather live with low PH than loosing corals.
I now dose kalk two times a day with a small one gallon dripper.
I think the calcium reactors we got are to big if they was smaller we can easily run them together with a kalk reactor.
I still have my kalk reactor and i will try again to see if i can get it to work is no kalk in there right now .
Good luck

The tips that have bleached or branches that have bleached, should those be cut off right away?

If they are just bleached but still alive with polyps i let them be, If they are dead and you start to see algae on them cut them off.

I had the same problem for months, when I could'nt keep any acro's past 6 weeks except 1 very brown Valida.

I did 3 things, so I am not sure which one fixed the problem.
1) I bought a doser for my 2-part calc to keep alk very stable.
2) I changed my power heads around in my tank even though they seemed fine.
& finally, 3) I got my Nitatrates down to 0.

All 3 methods were discounted by very knowable & respected individuals when I explained how I was applying them.

for example, I dosed my 2 part C-Balance once a day and, my range of alk went from 3.4 to 2.9 in between doses. I was told that as long as it remained in that range, I was fine. I believe them. I still believe them. However, I was at "wit's end", so I just did anything & almost everything that someone suggested until I came up with those remaining 3 things, and bam! It's cured!
They all my be right, and it was just a combination of things, but who cares? It worked & I thank all the people that suggested every possible thing to check! Thanks to ALL!
Sincerely,
Ralph

Its not just rapid growth. My ALK got low very fast because of high calcium. I have lost 6-7 colonies and about 5-6 frags.

My levels are starting to hold steady but many of the corals are still suffering.
