Would I be able to keep zoos with this lighting?

yay. Would I need to keep them high in the tank or lower ok?

The 10ks are BRAND NEW and the 50/50's are only a few months old.

Well I have a feeling that I'll need to put them on the top anyway?? They are coming from metal hallide lighting.

I should add that this will be my FIRST EVER CORAL!!!!!!!!

Well, this may take a few days to see where they like to be. Start them on the sandbed, and move up if necessary. When they are fully open, keep them there. I would keep them on the sandbed for at least 3 days before moving. Give them a chance to acclimate to the new lighting. If you notice they are starting to open, give them another day or two before moving them. Sometimes when coming from such abundant light to less light, it can take time for them to fully open.

When I received my Armour of God paly's, it took me 5 days to get them to fully open, also coming from 400w MH to my 40w T5HO.

Just let them on the sandbed, because a few were open, and I figured with time, they'll adjust to my lighting and open. Now, every stalk/head is open. :)

I'm looking at Devil's Armor, Cat eye, Watermelon zoos

Sounds like a good selection. What type Cat Eye's?

Purple disk with green eyes :) I want variety in the tank and I didn't want to get a whole bunch of brownish ones in there. A guy in my lrc is selling frags of them.

He sent a pic of Devil's and it has 3-4 polyps on them for $20.

Before placing these particular corals in my system which dip or "bath" would you recommend to prevent spread of yuckies?

Thanks all :D

One more...lol. I'm full of it tonight.

What kind of gloves do you all wear when handling them?

I use Brightwell's Lugol's solution to a "T".

Lugol's, Two Little Fishies "ReVive" and Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure are the most commonly used "dips" in the industry.

I don't use any gloves, but if you wanted to, use Latex free gloves.

Also, you want to rinse the coral in SW not FW after you take it out of the dip. And be sure to rinse well. If that much iodine or solution got into your tank, it'd be done...

Thanks. Seems like I've heard people in my lrc mention revive before. Sparked my memory.

Just any non latex? Wow like doctor gloves? Don't need something to cover half your arm?

You can. I just rinse my forearm's & hands really well before putting my hand in. I also remove any jewelry/watches.

And I also rinse very well after putting my hands in the tank.

I don't like gloves, because I like to be able to feel what I'm touching/moving. I'm also like that when I do yard work. I hate gloves. I love being able to touch what I'm working on. Just a personal thing I guess.

I just don't want to get any toxin on me. :eek2:  I'm not allergic to anything that I know of (NKA), but I'd hate to die b/c of my tank and zoo's toxin. Call me paranoid

I may be wrong, but I think they can release toxin's when cut and fragged, however I haven't fragged anything yet, nor do I plan on doing it to any zoa's.

Your not paranoid. It's common. Iodine is commonly used in the health industry. In fact my Dad had some on his shoulder when he had surgery on it last Monday.

You just want to be sure to thoroughly clean your fingers, fingernails (if you have any) and forearms. Because it can be toxic to your tank.
