Would these work for a Canon Rebel XT? Don't have the money for a macro lense so thought I would try these. Any reason they shouldn't work?

It depends on what lens you plan on using them on. Lenses have threads on the end that the filter screws onto and different lenses have different diameter threads. If your lens has 58mm threads (a very standard size) then yes, those filters will help you.
