Wow is it quiet in here...

5 days without a post! I can't remember the last time that happened.

What are you all up to that you are so busy?

Shane, how's the tank? Grant, how's the hood?

I did a water change and algae scraping two weekends ago (woo hoo, fun stuff...not!) and more algae scraping last weekend. Then I took about 150 macro shots of various pieces. I still have to post process them.

The club picked up a sweet tealish chalice with orangey pink mouths. There will be some frags in the upcoming raffles.

Very Quiet....
I did a water change and algae scraping Sunday....
Made a modification to my system that injects fresh water into the air intake line of my skimmer each time the top off system adds water, keeping the salt buildup from choking off the intake.

I'm still here. Went to Neptune Aquatics on Sunday. Picked up a couple frags. very impressive store. They have a lot of Corals.

Yep, its like one of those ole western scenes.....

theme music- "THE GOOD, BAD, AND THE UGLY" starts to play as a cloud of dust rolls over the once bustling metropolis known as wine country....

My tanks doing wonderful, lots of growth. Ive recently started trading with folks across state lines and have added a lot to my collection:dance:

Hey all.

Just working on the yard,

Congrats Crispy!!

Visited Steve Ruddy for some bulbs and had a good chat about cats and other stuff.

Oh and Ken you will love this took a lot of photos for our work website put them on my computer and preseeded to overload it and make it crash. I think all the photos are fine but the computer doesn't want to talk with the monitor anymore!! I am going to take it to my computer guy and have him save the photos and then reinstall all the drivers. Moral of the story, don't be lazy and back up your photos.

tank is doing well, just dealing with the algae bloom at the moment, removed my dsb from the sump But am keeping the rubble, etc to make room for my new media reactor and skimmer which should arrive in about a week. Got a Reef Dynamics INS-100 finally have an excuse to move up from my old Urchin pro lol. Hope you all are doing well. Grant

Awesome! I knew there people lurking here somewhere. :)

Way to go DAD! May you get some sleep soon. When will you be giving him his first polyp? Maybe a little nano cube?

Guy, good innovation there.

Jake, looking forward to seeing your new acquisitions.

Bob, thanks for the advanced scouting report.

Craig, I have a terabyte external USB hard drive that I copy all my pictures to. With my workflow, I end up with a pic on my laptop, my desktop and then my external drive, so I've got redudant backups. I often delete the original pic from my laptop as it has a smaller internal drive. Another workflow suggestion is to never modify the original picture, though obviously one ends up with more drive space occupied. Interesting, the Photoshop file of a given picture is more than twice the size of the original, and my camera shoots 15meg+ originals. Yes, I could dial down the storage size but I love all that detail and prints look great.

Grant, great new skimmer there. I look forward to seeing it in action.

Craig I am thinking about that but don't tell my wife I'm also realizing I could build another tank setup with all of the stuff I have been replacing Huuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm lol we shall see. I neyer thought I would have so much surplus equipment hee I've got 2 hoods that work great but are underpowered for what I'm doing now lol. I'll let you know, BTW what do skimmers run used ?

Grant I am not sure how old your skimmer is but I did see a urchin pro go for $125 on Craigslist the other day. I would like to check yours out anyways even if you don't sell it as I want to see if you can replace the pump if it fails and check out the water height requirements. Maybe we can do our own tank tour if you aren't working on the Saturday after the meeting. I would like some tank and Kitchen pointers :)

Craig I think the 125 is too much for a used skimmer and the pump is easily changed but my pump isn't that old and as for the height its not a factor like with the bigger skimmersas a matter of fact my old sump had about 7" of water and my big one now has 10" and it runs just fine I just need a bigger one. I love the idea of the minny tour and kitchen viewing let me know

hey guys,

Finally made it out to Berkley to visit green marine. I have to say I liked the selection and the attitude of store owner Jim. Lots of frags for cheap. Some clams, shrimp and fish as well. I myself am not interested in paying tons of cash for the tiniest of frags but these frags are cheap. They are fairly common stuff but for the price great and to me the best looking tanks have nice grown out colonies, not tiny frags of the latest and greatest here and there. Point being support this guy trying to do something different and drive prices down and not gouge people in the hobby. The hobby should be about propagation and sharing. Not getting every last cent for a frag you can get.

Anyways it was a good experience and definitely worth a trip back for me.
