Wow...What a fish!!

MrHarvard

"ship it"
If you haven't seen the Aberrant Morris Idol Segrest Farms got in on there last shipment you have to check it out!! I saw it on their Facebook then I googled it and Reef Builders already has a write up on it. They are saying they have never seen anything like it before it looks like a mix of a copper and butterfly and a Morris idol. Mother nature is truely amazing. Here is a link to the article.

ya saw this a few days ago when it was posted, pretty cool and unique.

Funny how in the comments they are speculating hybrid copper band or filefish lol. Bummer its prob going to end up at some crappy lfs

They post better photos today!

Seems like everyone is hoping they donate it to a research center but I wouldn't be surprised if breeders like ORA don't catch wind of it and try to purchase it.

I'm sure you all have seen or heard rumors of "Casper" the all white tang World Wide has in their display and what they have been offered for it. Wouldn't surprise me if this fish ends up with the same type stories..

Is anyone breeding idols in captivity today?

Seems unlikely ORA would be interested if not.

Not that I'm aware of and it would prob be a long time before it happens. I agree, doubt ora or breeders are remotely interested

I don't believe so from what I have read they don't do to well in captivity let alone being breed. I was just making a statement that most breeders jump on any rare fish to try and capitalize on the profit potential. it would be really sad to see a rare fish like this die in a holding tank!

Ah ok. Yeah something like this I would expect to go to high end retail or a high net worth individual. It is a really skinny fish though, and like John mentioned on FB it just doesn't look right.

Other than possibly a clownfish.. what breeders have 'jumped' on what rare fish?

I was mainly thinking about clownfish but Randalls Assessor and Todd Gardners "candy basslet" are a couple that I know of. I didn't mean to offend anyone my apologies. I just wanted to share what I thought was an awesome fish with the local community.
