Recently I had to evict My beautiful Pair of Emperor Angels from my system as their hunger for all types of corals increased and even leathers became victims of their teeth.. well its been almost a full month and a tank that had 8 large peaceful tangs has gone nuts each looking to become the dominant force within the tank.. What surprising is the Hippo/ Regal tang which I have 2 whom for more than a year resided in total piece with everyone well except the Niger Trigger whom the larger of the 2 hippos who occasionally spar with.. Now however the Larger of the 2 is constantly chasing every fish in the tank even clowns ?? Ya think this is a temporary thing until he establishes himself as the new "Tank Boss" or time to evict his butt as well? Right now residing in the sytem which is a 220 display with another 175 gal of Fuge and separate sump
2 Hippo 1-4" 1-3"
2 Naso Tangs 5"
1 Clown Tang 4"
2 Yellow Tang 4"
1 Purple Tang 4"
1 Mimic Lemon Peel Tang 5"
1 Majestic FoxFace 5"
3 Clowns 2"
2 wrasse 5" & 2"
1 Niger Trigger 4"
3 Chromis 1"
1 Sand sifting Goby 4"
1 Mandarin 2"

If I did away with the Hippo I think it would probably be just one of the other Tangs most likely the Blond Naso that started to behave the same way? Man Never realized how good a community peacemaker the Emperor was LOL:deadhorse:

Well I had a similar situation. Except the Hippo was the peacemaker. He died for unknown reasons and the rest, which are mostly other tangs, exhibited the same kind of behavior as your describing. They worked it out after awhile I don't really remember how long it took. Maybe a couple weeks and some messed up fins. But now my Powder Blue is basically top dog. So much so in fact that when I recently introduced a very expensive and beautiful Achilles He harassed the thing so bad It jumped out and died on the floor.
Anyways I'd give them time They'll work it out

Oh God don't tell me that .. being the nut I am went to the fish store where they had a gorgeous 6" show size Achilles I was trying to purchase to bring order back into the tank with a "Boss" and he literally jumped outta the tank when trying to capture him.. They put him back and are holding him for me till he calms down and ensure he doesn't ick out on me.. Now Im worried $$$$$ floor mat and I got a cat LOL :hmm4:
