Wow!

they are absolutely stunning. My longtime friend here in Hawaii used to video tape them and the similar depth dwelling sunset hogfishes regularly off of the deep Kauai drop-offs (250-300). This was up until about a year ago before he moved back to Honolulu. He was using a hammerhead rebreather and getting absolutely incredible video footage of these guys.

You have to post it!:bounce1:

I love angelfish and its been years since I have kept a tank without at least one angel in it. With that being said I just dont see the appeal of this species, I'm not going to call them drab but they are without a doubt one of the less attractive species of the family in general. Like all rarities their appeal seems to come from the fact that they are unobtainable. If these fish were common I would venture to guess they wouldn't be kept much at all, so many other angels are just stunning in comparison. I just dont get all of the hooplah.

It's hard to argue beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some like misbarred, others like aberrant/hybrid and some like big $$ fish but at the end of the day they are for our enjoyment.

With that said, Bandit angels didn't attract my attention initially as many said its just a black and white fish but the more and more I see them I just fell in love with them.

I don't know... they don't have a lot of color but I love their clean lines... very elegant!

I just love the look and coloration of the bandits and always have, I'm really not sure why the Genicanthus as a whole really dont appeal to me with the exception of the Watanabei and bellus. Maybe it is just an eye of the beholder thing.

Same with the Bandits. I never had any particular interest until I saw one in person and I knew I had to get a pair. They are by far my most favorite fish in my tank now.

I get to see them 2 times a week when I go to the Waikiki Aquarium to get my saltwater... Never get old---never. This fish is absolutely amazing... And so are bandits!
