I want to clear up some misconceptions in this thread.
There's a few posts in here that seem to think that it's the big on-line retailer versus the little one and RC only supports the big ones.
Reef Central is a non-commercial, hobbyist board that is supported by banner ads. Sponsors buy banner ad space, and in some cases a sub-forum to talk about their products/services. No commercial entity, Sponsor or Non-Sponsor is allowed to promote their business on RC. The only exception to that is Sponsors within their sponsor forum.
So...You will not see Liveaquaria or Reefermadness (for example) posting in the general forums about their latest sale, product announcement or what not. It would be a violation of the rules. And trust me, we have removed and banned sponsors in the past for violating that rule.
This club forum exists under that same overall policy. So if we pretend that some local LFS were to become a sponsor here and buy banner ads...They still could not post in this club forum about their business.
I hope that helps clear up the misconceptions I read in here.
Lastly, our standing policy is to not discuss a banned members situation with anyone but that member. Imagine if you will that you get fired from your job for breaking company policies. Now imagine that after you're gone, the rumor mill is buzzing and instead of being a good boss, your boss goes running around to everyone telling them the nitty gritty details of why you got fired. 1. None of anyone's business. 2. Massive HR nightmare. 3. Becomes a he said she said between non-involved gossiping parties.
Gary knows how to get a hold of me and the other Staff. He's clearly chosen not to. So be it. If he wants to portray RC as the big evil monster trying to run him out of business, I cannot stop him and RC simply chooses to not engage in a debate with 3rd parties about it, it is not how we conduct ourselves.
