Take a look at these!! If we each bought some, we could grow them out and trade down the road. If not, it's fun just to look at the awesome colors. (I'm drooling more today than I was yesterday over turkey dinner!!)

By the way, hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for my new reef club buddies. It makes the hobby even more fun.

Those are kept under 250w MH lighting (XM 10K), which is what I have over my show tank. Zoas aren't just plug and play. I may be up for ordering some, but when you start ordering the ones with "names", the price goes up. I swear I never heard of those names 5 years ago. Made up?? You tell me... But when someone asks $30 for a single polyp, forget it!!

I wasn't too serious about buying these right now but sure would like something that colorful down the road. They were fun to look at for sure!

IMO, yes!! I have a 250w MH over my system right now, but it is not turned on. My zoas are doing ok, but I know that if I turned on the MH, they would be doing better.

BEFORE you purchase anything from a picture ad, make sure you read what sort of lighting is over it in the picture. Water params have a lot to do with it also.

see, usually zoanthids are a low-to-mid light coral, thats why I'm wondering why the special ones are now under MH?

I'm far from an expert but I have zoos because they don't need the intense light. Maybe they'd color up better with bright lights. Mine look great under 216 watts of T-5's and are plenty happy. When I researched them, club members said they like dirty water too. They are the perfect coral for me. I think those would look pretty cool in mine. Drool!!

I wouldn't consider your lighing low by any means, not halides but powerful enough. I've kept zoanthids under pcs and halides and it really depends on the kind as to how they look. Some looked better under the pcs honestly. Color temp makes a big difference too, under the 10k halide they look blah compared to the 14k on the other tank. I am switching to a bluer bulb once these are worn out though.
