WP25/40 No more?!

I just want to say that if it were a knock off persay they would call them Tumze or Tanzes......you guys are debating on opinions...and we all know what they are like....@#$holes....everyone has one.
The point is, if you want a Tunze get a Tunze, if you want a vortech get a vortech, if you dont care about name brand and you just want to push water around get what ever you feel is the best fit for you and your budget.....no different then buying a car you can get the Lexus or the Toyota...bottom line when it comes right down to it they are the same car....So much of the merchandise offered to us is made in the same plants and just has a different name on .....TV industry is great example....

I do have to say I appreciate the passion some of you have but seriously I think most are missing the point here.....

Just my 2cents....

If you drive a Lexus you would not be satisfied with a Toyota even if they are the same company. Actually getting back to the subject I prefer Ecotech simply due to not having a cord on the inside of the tank. A cleaner more modern look.

a cleaner look inside the tank I will agree, but having mouse ears on the end of my tank to me looks funny. would be good if the tank is inwall though.

Lmao the ignorance in this forum is so entertaining!!!

What do you people care if someone else is wants to buy an "inferior product?"

Your just upset they are getting the same thing you have, for %400-500 less money!

The stupid idea that you need every top of the line, most expensive product out there to have a successful reef aquarium is ridiculous. This is a hobby, and you do not have to make 100k a year in order to be a part of it.

My grandfather bought a knock off Rolex, took it to be repaired a few years later, and the Rolex guy offered to buy it from him!!! I had the same experience, i wear knock off jeans from NYC. The zippers usually go bad, but the jeans are amazing. Took it to my drycleaners to have the zipper replaced, when i picked them back up the lady said "i dont do a lot of zipper replacements because they are not worth the money, but i can see why it was worth it, these are really expensive jeans!! Lol

This won't hold up or last long at all. I see no infringements either.

I don't either. I hate wheb companies use strong-arm tactics like this when their arguement is BS. Tunze is just trying to scare distributors into not carrying a competing pump. As far as I can see, there is no true patent infringement. Tunze filed a basically bogus design patent on a peice of equipment that is not decorative in any way. Design patents are for decorative details not for functional designs. The whole Tunze pump is built the way it is to improve water flow/movability of the pump (allowing the pump to be pointed in almost any direction)/etc. I don't see one decorative detail on the Tunze pumps. The design patent is a load of bull. And Tunze using such strong arm tactics when their patent is bull, lowers my opinion of the company quite a bit. I was considering a Tunze pump for my newer setup. Perhaps now I will go with WP25 just to thumb my nose at them. or I will spend a bit extra and go with the MP10.

Totally different.

If Jeans or Watches go bad you don't wind up killing your livestock.

Your just out what you paid for those items.

Your Aquarium should not be risked to save a few bucks on cheap knockoffs.

Glad I hung on to my koralias (which are about 2-5 years old each). Try keeping an MP40 for 2 years without replacing a part, heck I dont even clean my koralias that often.

We cannot say this pump is cheap because no one has owned this pump for an extended period of time. Ok, their controllers provided suck, but that issue has been fixed. They will find a way to sell these pumps and everyone who is griping about it really has to accept it and suck it up. Too many threads about bashing knock offs. If you don't like, dont buy em.

Man your posts are painful.

I'll ask again... Steve have you seen and handled a wp40? You are tunze and vortechs biggest cheerleader but don't own either one's products. Heck you don't own any of the three which I find funny, and ironic you are so outspoken about products you don't have experience with.

Somebody "Please" tell me how we are going to end up killing our livestock with these pumps? These are 24v "DC" and are fused on the secondary side of the transformer. Even if they weren't fused and shorted in the water, it is not going to kill anything in the water or even give us a shock for that matter. OK.. Just for sh*ts and giggles I decided to test this theory that these pumps are going to end up nuking our tanks....
I took a spare 24VDC transformer that I had laying around and plugged it into a wall receptacle. I then took out my trusty Fluke 179 multimeter, and measured the input and output voltage....
Input- 122.7vac
Output- 26.3vdc
Now lets take the DC plug and immerse it in saltwater and measure the voltage to ground...
Salinity- 1.026
Voltage leak detected to ground- "0" (no ground probe installed)
Immersed my hand in the water and grounded myself- "Still Here"
Left the plug immersed in the water for 30 minutes and retested- 26.5vdc
Can we now please quit spreading misinformation around that these "Junk" Chinese powerheads are going to end up nuking our tanks and possibly burn down our houses? The worst that could happen, is that they just quit working.

Buy them if you like, nothing is stopping you.

Personally, I think it's disgusting and unacceptable they'll rebadge their label to be a clone. Supporting that sort of behavior with sales seems stupid and idiotic to me but people are free to be idiots.

I have a Jebao WP2000 and WP1500 from a Solana. They're noisy and low quality (unreliable restarts, small pieces breaking over maintenance) over just five months. I don't even want to resell it because I don't want another reefer stuck with such crap gear.

I'm pretty sure it is hypocritical to criticize rebradging on the internet, since the electronics industry (especially computer components) is notorious for it.
