wrasse beating up new clown

picked up 2 small percs today to be paired in my tank. my six line harassed them. brought them back to the lfs and exchanged for one fat perc about the size of the 6 line. when i put him in again the 6 line started beating on him/her-scales flying off and everything.

so now i have the clown in my net resting at the top of my tank thinking she'll at least acclimate to the water there first and then have a fighting chance.

so let's say an hr goes by and I want to get her in the tank. is there a way to force her into my bta so the wrasse stays away?

the strange thing is i threw in a small firefish about a month ago and the 6 line didnt care.

taking out the wrasse isn't an option. i dont have that much time.

i'd welcome any advice. thanks

IME, introducing the 6 line as a baby after you introduce other fish really helps the 6 line keep small and play nice. I introduced it after I introduced 2 small maroons. I got rid of the maroons and put my giant, beastly black ocellaris pair in the tank while the wrasse was still 1/2" or smaller and now the wrasse (currently 1.5") won't come out of the back unless it's feeding time. The clowns attack and kill anything that comes in their territory... sadly even my poor little fingers! My female really packs a bite! Sorry for rambling, but I think you should get rid of the 6 line, buy a pair of clowns and let them get very territorial, then add a small 1/2" or less 6 line. The 6 line will stay out of the clowns way and the clowns with be the attackers instead of the attackees!

I added my Sixline wrasse last and it was never aggressive towards a single fish, and it was easily my largest fish. However I had to take out the wrasse, which is a whole different story.

Sixline are terrors, I have one for at least a couple of years and he even pick fights with my yellow tang.
