Wrasse Compatibility

Has anyone had any experience with a six line and a flasher wrasse in a tank together? We already have a six line and were thinking about getting a flasher, but we're not sure if they'll try to kill each other or not. They would be together in a 90 gal. The six line has definately proved to have a good bit of attitude, dive bombing our maroons when we added them... Thoughts?

There shouldn't be that huge of a problem, although can depend on size. Preferably do it with the lights off, and feeding doesn't hurt.

Six lines tend to be real bullies after they have been in the tank a while and flashers (depending on what type) are typically very peacefull. It would be ideal to put all other wrasses you want in the tank first and then add the sixline but I'm assuming that's not a possibility. It would be risky IMO.

If he's shown aggression already, it's probably not a good idea. Cirrhilabrus (if that's the species you are looking at) are not bullies, and are not easily bullied, but the six line is always up high on the list of questionable compatibility for the species. This thread is a monster read, but really good if you want to research fairy's/flashers.

There is a cd floating around the club somewhere that might help you out with selection as well.

Thanks for the input guys... we kind of figured it would be risky. The six-line is well established at this point.

We were looking specifically for a Carpenter Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri) if that changes anything.

I will definitely have to read up more on wrasses because they seem to be some of the most colorful and interesting species.

I had 2 carpenters wrasses in one tank. They couldnt even get along together. One ended up carpeting surfing to get away from the other :(

Now that I have just one all is calm and peaceful again.
