wrasse has issue with mouth

ok.. I thought this was bristle worm on the mouth.. but he is no longer able to eat aggressively.. he still trys to eat but has issue getting in mouth.. is the tissue on the mouth receding? bacterial infection. every see this.. I have not in 20 plus years.. thanks

+1^ could be a injury associated with trying to burrow in the sand or it could be a parasite of some sort.

Injury. Might be right. Does not look like bacteria initially. Problem is he has hard time getting food in mouth. He keeps trying.

It's a jaw injury which is often followed by a bacterial infection.

Treatment in a hospital tank with antibiotics is certainly in order if you wish to save it.

Unfortunately, recovery is often tough from this state. Best of luck!
