Added on Thursday...haven't seen him since. Is he likely dead? Should I start moving / taking rocks out to search for carcus? Or leave alone and hope clean up crew gets to it...if he is a goner.

If its a species that hides in the sandbed when sleeping or afraid, the wrasse may just be in hiding. I'd leave things alone - if the fish died, the CUC will have taken care of things already, and if it's just hiding, you don't want to frighten it further by putting your hands in the water and moving things around.

It's a 6 Line Wrasse. I hear they're shy...but this is crazy. It's been 5 days? I had a sexy shrimp...but that's gone missing too. I read 6 Lines eat small shrimp :-\

I have added flasher or fairy wrasse and not seen them for 3 or 4 days. I would guess if not seeing after two weeks its gone. They do jump so check your overflow or sump. Also check behind your tank they can squeeze thought the smallest holes. Good luck.

I got egg grate on the top of my tank...the lil bugger has been in there since thursday..its now monday <sigh> The sexy shrimp magically reappeared. (go figure). This is truly baffling

I have lost fish though egg crate. Go to this thread and check out my post. best way to keep gobies and wrasses in?

is jumping really an often occurance with these guys? geez. this all seems pretty hard core. Fish are crazy I'm convinced. Why do they jump in the first place?

Yes jumping is very common for wrasse and goby. Before I did the gutter gaurd I would hear the wrasse hit the lids at least once a day if not more. Even with the lids I had small holes around my return lines and over the last seven years I am guessing I have lost 15 fish. Not fun.
