wrasse stocking

I would recommend both... Naokoe (M) has strong/bright colors and pink margin is attractive in M or F colors...

Ok.. I will check the prices on them. Maybe I can get a C. lineatus, my dream-wrasse :)

Can you say something to Pseudojuloides cerasinus? There are some of them in the store atm.

I would personally pass on the C. naokoae. They can be quite aggressive with other Fairy Wrasses from what I know. No issue with the C. rubrimarginatus though.

Edit: Just saw you want a C. lineatus. In that case it would be either that or the C. rubrimarginatus. They don't play well together from what I know.

Yes, C. lineatus is my dream-wrasse so far. But its hard to get one here in Switzerland.. So I hope that I can get one with luck.

Dejong in Netherlands does have 2 C. interrupta :crazy1: that would be an awesome shot.

IMO, a 'full' male pink margin, can have some resemblance to a lineatus, in color/pattern...not the same, but still a very beautiful wrasse!
If wrasses are hard to come by in your country, I would not pass up those 2

I agree on the C. rubrimarginatus. Terminal males look like a C. lineatus with a red hue and red fins. Very good looking fish!

Not trying to hijack this thread but I purchased a lineatus fairy wrasse from liveaquaria back in March 2013.....beautiful fish (approx 5" supermale). The fish flourished in my 215 gal DT until last week. I noticed a couple of spots of ich on him and then he began eating less. I treated the tank with Microbe Hebtana (which I have had success with) and the ich seemed to subside within 3 days BUT his appetite never came back...(even after stopping treatment)...this morning he was deceased. Anyway, why do fish all of a sudden stop eating.....this might be a question with many variables but it is very frustrating...

Do you have other wrasses in your tank ?

Any pencil (Pseudojuloides) wrasse is typically pretty touchy, but the cerasinus is the "easiest" of the genus. Still a challenging fish to keep, however.

Precisely, and this is why they don't always coexist well either.

If I buy a female pencil.. how long does it take until she turns male? They do not have a male atm only a female in the lfs. What do you think? Its a female P. cerasinus

So I ordred a C. rubrimarginatus and a P. cerasinus. The cerasinus is a female.. Any ideas how long it takes until she turns male?

It's very likely it will never turn male, and always be female.

You can try; certainly use an acclimation box though. Just because one "looks" female, doesn't mean it will be friendly with a terminal male.

I always use an acclimation box when I add new wrasses. Hopefully this will work. But to be honest, the femalse cerasinus does look very beautiful or not? :-)
