wrasse stocking

My P. cerasinus is in my QT tank. Its a beatiful but shy female. Unfortunately they didnt send the ordered C. rubrimarginatus :-( But they offer me a C. lineatus in size XL :-O what would you say should I get one?

They also offer me a A. meleagrides. What do you say?

Does anyone know how big a XL lineatus is? Maybe a picture of one?

I don't have an answer for that, but I do have a few questions!
Do you have any idea how old an XL fish is?
How long will it last in your tank?
Is it worth the price, if it only lasts a year or 2?

I do not know how old an XL fish is, sir. They just offered me an XL lineatus. I think the fish is worth the price, yes. But I cant know how long the fish lasts in my tank. How old can wrasses get?

If wrasses are hard to get for you, and you think it's worth the price, then go for it! My point was that I'd prefer smaller, younger, less expensive fish that hopefully will be with me, longer.
I'm sure that the XL Lineatus will be a beautiful fish, they are one of my favorites!

Yes, I have to think about it. They also have a C. luteovittatus and a C. marjorie in stock. I think its time to set up an order :-)

But is the marjorie worth the price? Never seen one in person.

I have the velvet wrasse and like it very much... Never saw Marjorie in person, but I see that reef builders mentioned it as a top 5 wrasse pick!
Sorry, can not post link

Not if you are to have other species alongside it. It's way up on there on the aggression amongst Cirrhilabrus, and typically won't tolerate other wrasses. There are occasional exceptions, but it's really not worth the risk.

You might find this a worthwhile read for you.

Interesting. I've found them to be quite docile, in my experience. I have one in my 210.

Is this a pair of C. johnsoni?

Considering the species can reach ~6", I'd expect an XL to be up around that size.

My sentiments exactly.

My pair of C. johnsoni, to be exact. Photo by Eric Zard.
Both of them are male now.
There's a video I took of them on Advanced Aquarist when the female was still female and the pair were spawning.

Hi Hunter

thanks for your response. So I try to order the C. lineatus and a female yellow tail tamarin.. All of them (incl. cerasinus) will then be in my QT for about 2-3 weeks. After that I will intro them all together in my DT. Do you think I should intro them all together in a acclimation box or can I intro them without acclimation box? Like I said the C. exquisitus is the only wrasse in the tank.

This pair of C. johnsoni is awesome! But I guess they're hard to find?

What do you say to a C. marjorie in my tank?

In this instance, I would probably just add them all at once.

Thank you. A bit of a rarity, yes. Their collection range is not very large and fairly remote; they're only collected when someone knowledgeable is in the region.

Terminal Marjorie males are quite nice; females/sub-males aren't all that interesting however.
