Wrasses that WON'T get along?

Not counting the sixline;

I'm considering a Labouti as well as a Lineatus wrasse (maybe pairs of one or the other), but I'd like a less-expensive variety for added color and life to my reef tank while saving the funds for those two more expensive exotic wrasses.

Any that I can get away with adding and will get along with those two?

Or basically, are there any wrasses that simply will not get along with other wrasses?

100g cube, sand bed, plenty of rock to hide in.

I have a lot of wrasses and they mostly always get along, of course you should introduce them to each other through a clear breeder to make sure and to allow them to get used to each other. You will likely be OK. If they don't get along you will have to remove them.

yeah. Clearly when I get the more expensive guys, if the less expensive wrasse is the troublemaker, he's GONE!

Check out the flashers, their pretty easy going. Steer clear of the Scotts fairy. I've heard the Pylei can be a demon also but Ive never had one myself.

I'm convinced that their will always be that one "bad apple in the bunch" Most fairy and flashers will get along. Some of the big boys will spar every now and then to be King of the Hill, but nothing seriouse. My bad apple is my conde fairy wrasse. He thinks his main mission in life is to chase any and all flashers. And then again, My largest wrasse in my tank is my rosefascia. And he is a complete gentleman. I have 2 sunset pylies and they are great with others also. So, IMO , you never really know.
I have a male Lineatus and a pair of Labouti's and they do great with others.

how do you like your Labouti's and Lineatus? I finally saw a Labouti in person a month ago and it was more stunning than pictures show

Love em.
Pictures don't do them justice.

Don't get a condei wrasse. It is really quite aggressive to other wrasses IME. My laboutei gets picked on a fair amount, but it was the last wrasse I added to my 125.

Is there a difference between Male and Female or do they look the same? Very nice pics by the way. They're beautiful fish.

One more ? for you guys. How long does social acclimation usually last?

It varies. When the fish is active, feeds, and does not draw any aggressive behavior, a couple of hours. But I have had it last a day (one lights out period). Other folks may experience longer?

Lesson #1 cover the tank with netting(brs where I got mine). I've lost several without the right size netting.... Also buy some sort of battery backup..

I add them at night with only the actinics running.

Melanurus Wrasse (pair)
Yellow-Flanked Fairy
Bluehead Fairy

I'm going to add three more
Exquisite Fairy
Labout's Fairy
Red Head Solon

my laboutis was really aggressive, until he jumped cuz i forgot to put the top back on. he even beat the hell out of a leopard wrasse. i was scared to add any other fairy wrasse to the tank with him cuz of it. im working with a flame, lineatus, rhomboid, and radient right now and they are all best friends and all seem very calm and relaxed towards anything. :)

A very nice selection. Leopards would be compatible, assuming you have fine sand, lots of copepods, and can find healthy ones.

Flasher wrasses are always fun to watch. Beautiful fish, and they stay small.
But if you hang around here long enough you will have all kinds of wrasses. LOL
