WTB 36" t5 or halide fixture or retro?

I have a dual 250W MH DIY brand new with parabolic reflectors and NIB 250W 10K WX's. Also have a 400W HM 20K XM DIY with the reflector too. Let me know if your interested.

If this is for the 30 gallon you got listed id probably go with t5. if you cant find any local then try www.hellolights.com and check out there retrofit t5 kits. they have individual reflectors which is what you want. If you find some somewhere else just be sure they have individual reflectors if you want to get there full potential. the for sale forums here has some nice cheap setups at some times but you got to make it a full time job of watching the forum to get anything that sells for cheap before someone else snags it lol.

I think the dual 250's may be toon much looking more for a single 150-175 its only a 30 gal tank 18 in deep
titans fan pmed you about the t5

I was gonna actually suggest that setup to you but wasnt sure how much you had to spend. Imo that would be perfect for what you want to keep and it wont be overdoing it. I got a 175 watt mh and 2xt5 . I also got sps and gonna add a clam at some point. my tank is about the same height and the same length as yours. the only difference is my tanks 18 inches wide so theres not a much difference in our tanks.

It is a little more than I really want to spend but may as well get what I want and not have to but again

Sps grow well for you pitbull with that setup

I havnt had my newest tank running that long but with past experiences with similar lighting i have had good growth. growth does depend on alot of other things besides lighting but with the lights your looking at you will be good as far as lighting goes.

i dont know how many other tanks you have seen in person with mh or t5 but something you might want to do is go check out some other peoples tanks that have just mh and some with just t5 and see what you really like before you spend your money. some people like just the t5 look alone and some will use nothing but mh while others like me like a mix of both. it would be a waste of money to buy something before you know for sure what you like which is what alot of people do when they start out. also you can get an idea what bulbs to use by looking at others and see what type of bulbs there using if you like there colors.

You saw mine, Danny. The 120 (where the corals you got came from) has 175W Ushio 14K's with no actinic supplementation. The 125 with all of the SPS has 250W DE 14K Phoenix's and VHO actinic supplementation. I'm a big fan of MH and VHO combos.

Well said mike

thanks, I know i read alot of people in the beginner forums asking why they arent getting good growth even though they have proper lighting and i myself thought it was all about lighting when i started out. just like some people thinking lighting is the only thing that has to do with getting good colors to come out in there corals. if it was only that easy
