Hi. Looking for one of these here jobbers:

sockmount.jpg

Thanks.

Actually, I'm going to the hardware store at lunch to shop for a heat gun. I have some leftover acrylic from an old project... I may just start fabbing these up. If it works, I could even custom mold the shape to each persons needs.

Aqualife has them....I don't think they are identical to that one. I think they were around $35.

I needed a heat gun anyway, but Mark's right, it didn't work the way I hoped it would... So... Still looking for a sock dock. Thanks.

Wow. $35!

Generously: That is about $2 worth of acrylic, bent 3 times, drilled once and cut.

Labor/benefits included that CAN'T cost more than $5 to produce... for a 700% markup?

I'll buy the stuff and sell them for $15 and stillll make a KILLING!!!

Who's with me?

Exactly why I haven't bought one! I saw $35 and put it right back. Mine is micky moused right now....but I plan to DIY something better. Awesome idea. I'm on your side Kevin!

I posted this on the MARS forum at RDO a few years ago and no one ever replied.

Yes it's ghetto, but it works, it's cheap, and takes 30 seconds to make. :D

I use the same high tech gizmo as Matt. If your having trouble getting the sock to stay on(typical with smaller pipe), just cut a short piece of PVC to put into the side outlet of the T.

Ok, this may be a Noob question, but gues what, I AM A NOOB!!! Why couldn't you just put whatever you put in the sock in a media bag and let it sit in your sump? Is it just because of flow and efficiency?

the sock doesn't serves as a pre-filter (grabbing the big gunk) for the water entering the sump. not for media.
