WTB Tank raised Ocellaris clowns...

Does anyone know a breeder or a LFS that sells Tank Raised Ocellaris?

I had a pair of wild caught clowns that, within a day of being in my quarantine tank showed signs of (possibly Broklynella?) stress and didn't make it. I hear that tank raised clowns are hardier and would like to try again. Though this time I'd give them a FW dip before even putting them into the QT tank.

Thanks!

i got tank raised clowns from lucky goldfish in oakland but that was a while ago. might want to give them a call to see.

All About Fish in pleasant hill just got a big order of ocellaris from ORA tank bred =)

They all looked really healthy.

PetCo sells tank raised ones (that is all they sell of them, typically). I also know that if you catch them on the right day All About Fish sells ORA ocellaris, but you need to ask them specifically if the ones you are getting or wild caught or not . They sold one to me a while back that was wild caught, like yours it showed signs within a day so I knew it was not tank raised. I was able to convince them to exchange for a tank raised one (I had to pay the price difference of course, as tank raised cost more at the LFS). The other one that we got from PetCo has been doing great (over a year now), really healthy and growing fish :)

haha tom I think you were posting right when I was.

but all about fish does have them now, and all their ORA stock are in a separate tank now. So no worries about them not knowing which are tank bred anymore.

I did not say that they didn't know :), simply that they misled me and sold me wild caught when I had been specifically discussing the tank raised with them prior to the purchase. They were out of tank raised which was why they "bait and switched" to the wild caught, but they finally made good on it, it just took a while. This was back before they put in the tanks with the big ORA stickers on them, etc.

How much do tank raised clowns generally cost? The wild caught ones cost me $12 each, which, sadly was just throwing $12 away for each fish I got. I'm guessing like $20-$25?

i got a pair for $18 total from new alameda... not sure if they were wild or tank, but wow they are healthy =) I've had them for about 7 months now.

Strangely I've seen a couple places with CB ocellaris for $10 each lately. I'm used to them being a little more expensive.

Cool. Dolphin is also super expensive though too. But, after dumping $30 on fish that got sick after one day, it might be worth it.

Let's see. It must have been either Atlantis, AC or Mermaid. That was my circuit this past weekend. Also at Fish4You, Ultimate and Petco but I'm pretty sure it was at one of the first three. Just remember being really surprised that they were $10 sorry I wasn't in the market and didn't think about it until you posted.

Captive raised for $10??? I have to say that that has got to be wrong. The cost of shipping ORA clowns to the West Coast plus the cost of the clowns themselves puts you over that price! Either someone is jerking you around and selling you wild caught or they got one heck of deal from a local breeder.

Like I said, I just remember seeing a whole tank labeled for $10 each. perhaps they got a good deal. I'd hope they weren't mislabeling their fish.
