WTB - VHO 2x110w Ballast

I have 2 of those relics on my tank that are the super actinic ones and I love them. Hopefully they continue to be made.
 
It's really personal preference. If you aren't use to actinic vho , it will throw you for a loop for the first week until you get used to them.
But huge difference between vho and t5 actinic. I hated both t5 blue and actinic when I first switched from vho/halide.
 
Vho actinic is very good. Par on actinics is not great. I run mh with a 454 in the front, which is like a blue plus, in t5 speak, and a super actinic in the back. The actinic causes major coral fluorescence, while the 454 lights up an array of colors more intensely. It's worth playing with as the good vho bulbs put out twice the output of a t5 bulb at about the same price. Your corals will thank you. Hope this helps.

When you run this, do you run the both VHO's at the same time?

Or do you run the 454 and super actinic at different times?
 
I run both vhos all day (10hrs) with 2 175w 14k mhs on for about 5hrs in the middle of the day. The tank looks better when then mhs are not on, but I would not do with out the mhs for the health and growth of the tank, as they are the gold standard without a doubt. The look of the tank is of course a matter personal taste. I split the middle with one of each. You have to see what you like....

They break my stones for only running halides 5 hours. But it is some serious high noon sun power during those brief hours.
 
Main Tank:
Reefbrites 2 XHOs - 7am to midnight
T5s x 4 - 8 am to 8 pm
Halides 250w x 2 - 11am to 4pm off Wedneday and Weekends
