No need for any fancy waste collector. I used 5 gal. bucket, save the lid poke a hole stick the hose half way down inside,when the skimmate reaches the tip of the hose, skimmer stops working.

Sounds good to me. LMK what your ideas are for designing one. I have plans from "Snailman's DIY page" but when I tried to place an order w/ US Plastic for the Acrylic tube, they required that I buy the 6" tube in sections of 6 feet. And I'm positive that I don't need 6 waste collectors .

Menard- How does the skimmer stop working when the skimmate touches the hose? I am aware of the "ping pong ball shut off design" but what you are saying doesn't make sense to me. Please elaborate, I'm interested to hear how this works.

just use a 5 gallon bucket with lid and i will show you how to design it. ive been using mine for 6 mnths and never a problem.about 8.50 in parts plus bucket

When the air in the skimmer aint no place to go.Backpressure prevent the skimmer to push more dirty water, so U wont have a flood .

menard not to knock your theory here but hans skimmer is a large 6' beckett if im not mistaking! if the skimmer goes into over drive for what ever reason the weight of the water alone in the collection cup will allow the 5 gallon bucket to over flow! its happen to me a few times till i bought a sump alarm to alert me when it was getting full

I agree w/ little_squid.....ive seen an ETSS skimmer blow the lid off a 5gl bucket....best to use a pressure rated collection cup....

The carbon chamber is homemade Acrillic I put together,U can make anything out of plastic.
This waste collector never fail me yet.Everytime I see the skimmer stop functioning, the waste collector is full.
