wtb - your old mh lights and skimmer

i'm needing to set up a holding tank asap ... like as in tonight.

anyone have any old mh ballasts/reflectors or an old skimmer (save for seaclones) they're not using?

don't care about the shape of the items as long as they work.

need to pick up today.

What is the hurry man? Why do you need lights so soon? If its live rock you certainly dont need lights for that..

long story. i need to sustain coral, not just liverock.

i can use my pc lighting, but i figured if someone had an old spare retro halide that i would just pick that up.

You don't even need that, they been doing fine under my 40w of light.

the stock tank is a lot taller than a 37g tank, though.

plus, if i get this set up with decent lighting i might be tempted to get some frags going in it in the meantime.

i ended up getting what i needed. kromine is selling me his skimmer a little later this morning and hounddog01 is letting me borrow a large spare pump. for now i'm just using my pc lighting, but i think i am going to order one of the evc 250w retrofit combos for $159. that way i'll have one of the three i'll need for the display when it comes time to move everything to the display.

Yeah those halides are pretty darn cheap I must admit. At that price it makes me really want to try out a set of 10ks with some T5 supplements and sell 2-4 of my T5s. Like many of you, I really like the shimmer look. If T5 only had shimmer

But since Im broke I guess I will be sticking with my T5s

I am going to keep my eye out for sales on ebay and such. If I come along some cheap ballasts I may decide to buy em, who knows. While I like the results of my T5, I just love the look of the shimmer. I really kind of wish I stuck to my guns initially and got the MH. That was the plan all along, but I got the T5s for economical reasons.

As far as bills go I've only noticed maybe $10 a month extra so far for the fans and lights.
