WTT: 120g for RR

ok so against better judgement i threw my tank up on craigslist for a ridiculous price (with the intention of being talked down) i put it up for $400 with iron stand or $500 with my home made wood stand. i have had 3 offers as of today. (I just put it up earlier) so i may be getting that RR after all. i may just order it from glasscages and have them bring it when they come in town. it's only $405 shipping included with the RR package and acrylic overflow covers on a 125g tank. LOVE these dimensions. they make me smile. The weird thing is these people KNOW its old and its not drilled but they are all interested in FW mostly oscars so i guess i lucked out! Anyway i just wanted to throw that out there, i was NOT expecting this kind of attention from people on this tank.

Buy it if you like it.

Your post doesnt say but is the craigslist tank a RR? You might have two non-RR tanks on your hands then.

the one im buying? yes it is. it even comes with a nice return pump. he's selling so cheap because he has to have it gone by monday.

Be sure to ask if anything was treated in the tank or any major outbreaks of anything really bad. The bad part of buying used is you don't know if you are buying a copper factory. And there could be some nasties in the rock. I'm not at all telling you not to buy it, just saying you could be buying someone else's headache that made them get out of the hobby and sell their tank cheap. I'm not usually this negative about anything. Just apprehensive when buying used. Like I said, not saying not to buy it. I bought used with no problems, as of yet (knock on wood) Just my take.

well as far as this tank goes it will be just a HUGE LR curing vat. since i dont have enough money to start it. most likely the rock will die anyway. i planned on taking it all out. taking a wire brush or something of that sort and scrubbing it off. ill ask about medications but as it was used for a reef tank that seems unlikely but ill ask.
as far as picking it up... i have NO extra money meaning i have to receive payment for mine before i can buy another one.
this tank is looking screwed basically except i now have 5 offers. a few from here and one from florida. that person would be sending $100 extra just for hastle fees. i dont have to ship just get it loaded onto the moving truck they are sending to me. idk who to go with. all of the payments would take about the same time as they are all going to be certified checks it looks like

Your parents couldn't float you for a week or so? Better milk them for anything and everything you can get now. Once you are out, it's a little harder to get them to help. I still have trouble getting my mom to do my laundry. She is always getting my wife's things mixed up with my sister's things. :)

i am the guy you bashed in the other forum when i was trying to trade for a nano. that being said, i will give my two cents here. i would be very careful about out of town buyers who want to send "extra" money for your hassles. there are lots of tanks for sale around the country, and being that yours is not RR, i would question that persons need to purchase from another state. if you have as many offers as you say you do, sell it local. that way the buyer can see what he is getting, and you get cash in hand.

watch the one from Florida ... there are alot of scams on cl using certified checks think about it .. why would they buy a standard tank a thousand or so miles away and offer to pay an extra hundred bucks. sounds like a scam to me edit... i was beaten to my point... but its worth repeating :)

i wasnt planning on going with the florida one. most people want to do certified checks whether they are local or not. i want this SOLD!! gosh. and i wasnt bashing the nano 75 trade at all!! i was asking an honest question... i dont know how to explain to you that i wasnt bashing that thread.
anywho i am hoping my mom will hand over $150... the guy that is selling me that RR 125 said i could do half now and half after i pick it up.

I wouldn't take a check at all .. Cash and carry is the only way to go........

John

Agreed! Maybe get your dad/mom to help you with this transaction so you don't get ripped off, JMO.

i always check with the mom or dad before i do anything. my mom has control of my bank account right now (go figure!). i guess thats a good thing though. i will surely ask her. basically i will ask any of them if they can just do that for me. also if i can go pick up that 125 i am going to need lots of trash cans arent i....

A certified check is nothing more that a piece of paper worth little more than the roll of paper hanging on the wall in your bathroom. Get cash in hand, possibly Paypal, or get screwed over.

Oh, and why would a local, who is going to pick it up in person, not be able to pay in cash?? Think about it ;)
