Sometimes leatehrs will close up for a while. It looks like a colt coral.

how long do they usually close up?

right now its under 70w 14k halides
the pic was when it was close to the top
at 1st i thought it was the lighting so then i moved it to the bottom but that didnt change anything

I know my sacrophyton has closed up for about 5 days at a time & came back open. It sheds a mucous coat & looks even prettier when it reopens. I guess it should be the same with this species.

i had the same problem a week or two ago. my leather had been happy and all of its "fur" was out and everything was great. then one day it was just closed up. it stayed that way for 2 weeks. i was worried at first. the feedback from this forum and other people helped me with the worries. it's not a problem. they close up from time to time. mine did so and shedded its skin. since its shedding it has grown quite a bit. so, i think you don't need to worry and look forward to its growth that is most likely coming. good luck!

What's your flow on it? Too little flow and leathers can take awhile to shed. Try putting some indirect flow on it for awhile, not a ton, just enough to gently move the heads. A rotating powerhead works well for gentle, waving flow.

That is true also.

I have a leather with white stars on it when it opens up completly that is. Same here for one week it looked terrible then it came back better then ever. i guess they go through a phase then come back again.
