they've always responded to my emails, thinking of getting their octokit myself, but $35 shipping is steep. But it is winter, eh?

Hey Tim if you order let me know I might (not pos) order one too
Also there is a guy on Michiganreefers that wanted to do an order

It would save us all quite a bit on shipping if it works out

I have been getting my Bimac's from Jim the owner and breeder of the octo's for some time now. He has always been fair. One shipment was damaged and he replaced it at his cost and never charged me anything not even shipping. He is in Carlsbad, CA and been selling wholesale for some time now to place's like Fishsupply.com. and a lot of the other big name places around the country. He has within the last few month went retail on his stuff. He believes in captive raised and leave the wild stuff in the wild.

I just got back from there! its on 15 and Ryan- Aquatic Discoveries. They are Bimacs and they are small about 3/4" mantel.
He is asking $60 for them

Thats really not that bad when you factor in shipping and taking a chance this time of year. Plus you can see them and get one thats not shy
I think i am gonna pass for right now
I need to get the rest of my tank back together before I start something else

octopets is a great place

octopets is a great place

I just spent a couple of hours getting a tour of the facilty from Jim this past Saturday. I was interested in getting a new octopus so I phoned up octopets to see if I could come down and pick one up since I live in L.A. (to avoid shipping costs). Jim had no problem with this and even suggested that I could make appointments for Saturday visits.

The octopus side of things is an impressive little setup. With several water tables each containing a couple hundred little bimacs. It was pretty cool geeting to watch a female continuously and gently clean all of the eggs she had laid. It was also nice to see the amphipod and algae culturing systems.

I was able to handpick the octopus I wanted, I ended up getting two of them because they were all so cute I couldn't walk away with just one.

Jim was very friendly and helpful and also gave me a tour of the shellfish hatchery that is the main focus of the aquaculture business located there.

I highly recommend octopets for anyone who wants a pet octopus, all the people (especially Jim) were friendly, with an elegant setup full of healthy bimacs. If you live near Carlsbad setup an appointment and go see it all for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

I got mine in the mail Thursday, he's still kicking, but not as active. love his color changes! recommend octopets to all!

I just got mine today.. Have a 46 gallon tank setup for him.. Cant find him in the tank guess he is hiding in the rock somewhere. Funny thing is I never let hime out of the bag. I poked a couple small holes in the bag to acclimate him and I guess he crawled out of one of them so I have no idea where in the tank he went...

get a red light bulb and put it in a holder, turn off all the lights and toss in 2-3 crabs or shrimp. sit back and watch!

boy lots of michiganders looking for octo's I too will be in the market soon. The guy from aquatic discoveries also had a huge octo (not sure what species, he rarely labels them) about a month ago. It was the size of a volleyball.
Great store, decent prices
