WXM VorTech Outlets not Dynamically Created

I installed my WXM module and connected my two MP40W ES's. Everything looks good on the Module setup web page and in the controller display menus.

Apex Module List
HW Type HW Rev SW Rev Addr Name
Display module 001 009(OK) 001 Disp_1
EB8 module 001 008(OK) 003 EB8_3
EB8 module 001 008(OK) 004 EB8_4
PM1 module 001 002(OK) 005 PM1_5
WXM module 001 004(OK) 006 WXM_6

Rev 1.1, RF Rev 1.2 (1,2,3,3)

- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03144206764016 - OK-1
- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03493002318210 - OK-2

Why cant I see the VorTech_6_1 and VorTech_6_2 Outlets on my Status or Outlet setup pages?

It sounds like you did not complete all the steps to add the pumps to your WXM. After you apply all the firmware updates to your controller, WXM and Vortech Driver(s), you still need to attach the driver to the WXM module. It's only at that point that the actual outlets are created. There are 2 steps:

1- clear the driver memory
2 -assign the driver as a slave to the WXM

Page 6 of the WXM doc gives you the step by step for that. You have to hold a couple of buttons, face the sun and do a chant. Then it will work.

I attached the VorTechs and disconnected and reatached them several times trying to get the outlets to dynamically allocate. Each time I confirmed the VorTechs flashed blue/yellow a successful connection. I can see each of them connected on the Module status web page:

Rev 1.1, RF Rev 1.2 (1,2,3,3)

- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03144206764016 - OK-1
- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03493002318210 - OK-2

I also confirmed connection on the controler display, i.e. Control&Status->WXM Status.

They just do not show up in Outlet setup list. They are not listed in the controler Manual Control list either.

Yes. I first updated the Apex firmware to release 4.04 AG10. I then updated the web pages. I then updated the WXM firware to version 1.04; then the VorTech firmware to version 1.6. The VorTech update was done using my new VorTech to update my old VorTech. I then connected the VorTechs to the WXM and ran into the problem. I later tried to use the WXM to update the VorTech firmware but it would not update, it did not need it. I did see them communicating. I went through the VorTech disconnection and reconnection process a couple more times with no luck.

I am going to start all over again with Apex firware release 4.04 BC10.

Are you keeping one off while you try to connect to the other? It's essential you only have one driver powered on at a time when you try to connect to the WXM.

The Apex firmware update to 4.04 BC10 was sucessfull, and web page update is good. WXM update did not change the version because it is already the latest version. Did not even try the VorTech firware update because it is also the latest version. Detached both VorTechs and re-attached them them both. No change. VorTech_6_1 and VorTech_6_2 still missing from the Outlet list.

Any ideas???

Yup, when I attached them I turned the other off. I pullled the power plug. No change. Outlets sill missing.

Does anyone know what the (1,2,3,3) means in the Module Setup page?

Rev 1.1, RF Rev 1.2 (1,2,3,3)

- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03144206764016 - OK-1
- Rev 1.6 Ser #: 03493002318210 - OK-2

I think it must be associaed with the RF connections between the WXM and the VorTechs. I saw the 2 flash to a 1 for half a second on the controler display once. I am wondering if it is a signal strength or something.

Is it possible you used the wrong firmware for the ES drivers - there's two different types depending whether they're ES or not.

Other than that, I don't know. I'd ping Neptune and see what they say. In the mean time, just go back and double check your steps - I know you did already but sometimes we skip a sentence 2 or 3 times before we realize what we did (at least I do!).

So I emailed support@neptunesys.com and got Curt. His first question was how many outlets I had. I have 56. He recognized it right away. It is a bug where the maximum number of outlets is not dynamically updated. I set it up so he could log into my system and he fixed it.

The lesson is: don't spend two days trying to fix something; email neptunesys earlier. I am a happy customer again.
