Xavier's 120 Gallon Journal

Sponge really ? that is crazy some of them will never eat then some will not stop eating . Thanks brother for giving it a great home . i would like to start adding really small colorful Fish to the tank in the next month or so .

Update: The Moorish Idol is now the fattest fish in the tank, with the baby sailfin as a close second. Eats everything, including my acans, but I only had a couple small (but nice) frags. He is a freak with flake food, and eats it a lot better than anything else I throw in there. Also, his streamer is now about 2 1/2".

I picked up some new corals today, and a scopas tang, a chromis, a coral banded shrimp, and some nassarius snails today. Water change tomorrow hopefully. Finals weeks suck.

Wow Brother the Streamer is growing fast . Sorry about the acans that is really strange even though i had no acans he left my LPS alone and to be honest i had thought they were reef safe because it never touch any of my coral . well on the pluss side it is a rad fish and its eating .

Oh I'm sorry, did that nice fish you bought eat your coral?

MMM. Those were some tasty acans!

Lowered the skimmer pipe to skim a little wetter, and I REALLY like it. The skim is still very dark, but there is more of it. Water looks cleaner for sure. Everything is still growing. Except the favia, which the M.I. has taken a liking too

Changed two of the bulbs. One was burnt out, and the other was really dim. I have been meaning to do it for months now, but today I just had the urge. The tank is a lot more blue, more how it was when I first set it up. The bulb that was burnt out was a Wave Point Blue Wave.
I have a new-found love for this tank! I had no idea what I was missing out on haha. Sad thing is, no one else would probably notice the change. :)

Just an update, I finally got him some scallops to try, and he took them kindly! He didnt like them floating around and I couldnt get them to stay on the bottom with my flow, so I put some in the Nori clip and this is what happened!!

So he is now eating Nori, mysis (although not his favorite), flake, pellet, and scallops! What should I try next?

Dont really have anything crazy to report.
deep cleaned my tank yesterday! Got the scrapers out and scraped all the coralline algae and "tough" algae that I have been letting sit there for far too long. Cleaned the skimmer thoroughly, and also picked up some corals from the sand bed. Managed to frag a bunch of my acros accidentally. oh well.

Also the whole tank looks like a sand storm from my new Diamond Goby doing his job. The sand grains are too big to go airborn, but all of the random detritus that has been sitting and getting gross in the sand from a lack of sand stirring has been set free. Gotta go put a new filter sock on there soon!

Now onto the second tank!

Oh ya, and I also traded my old skimmer for a 25watt UV sterilizer yesterday too! So excited about that

MI is still doing well. His streamer gets really long, and then shorter. Weird to watch, but interesting since it is a pretty well documented occurrence.

Got this Fungia Plate today at a LFS, bought it right out of the bag before it even fully inflated because I knew it was something I really wanted.

1 minute being in the tank

I got a Venustus Angel yesterday! He was picking at the rocks within hours of being in the tank. So far it is my favorite fish in the tank! But, from what I have heard and read, they are notorious for dying. Time will tell
