I love xenia. The puling is hypnotic. I have been reading it grows like crazy in the tank. I read in one place that pom-pom xenia does not spread as much. Is this true? Should I stay away from this stuff all together?

You just have to manage it well. The waving hand will grow like a weed, I keep mine confine to the back glass towards the top of the tank. When it gets thick and spreads too far out along the glass, I peel them off and toss them, of offer them to the local club. The white pompoms are a slow grower, but will spread. More manageable down lower in the tank.

Now be careful about Xenia, it does great in some tanks, goriwing almost as fast as a weed, but in other tanks, it can easily just get smaller and smaller melting away never to be heard from again. Some think it has to do with lighting, water flow, or nutrients, so I think you just have to be lucky, ... LOL.

I've found my Xenia to be very sensitive to the Alkalinity level as well as light. If the alk gets low, it stops growing and even shrinks, but with the Alk around 3.2 Meq/L it grows like crazy (both pom-pom and waving hands).
