Xenia Question

Thisseemsfishy

Just another Reefer
I've had these Xenia's for about 3 months and they have done fine, but I've noticed these little bubbles at their base. Not a bunch, but 4 or 5 per stalk. Maybe they've had them the whole time, maybe not.... I was curious if anyone knew what this was?

+1 to this. be sure you really want them, they can takeover a tank quickly. trust me I tought I liked them till they killed some other corals and there is no where for me to expand my reef due to this weed.

i have some of that bubble stuff on my lr it hasn't done anything i've been observing it for a month. i also have xenia in my tank but it is surrounded by sand on it's own lil island. It is starting to grow on one of my tank walls it's actually kind of cool as long as you trim it it's not bad

Interesting, appears you have caught it in its early stage of propogation.

I guess so, its seems to be growing at a ridiculous rate.

To update...the bubbles have gone away (in that spot) and the Xenia is spreading like wildfire, its the fastest growing coral I've ever seen. Time to frag it some more!!!!!

Yes, very fast grower, indeed! As many warn it can overtake things. I have found success in keeping it isolated on a particular live rock. It will drop branches as grows contiuously. I simply frag these dropped branches and trade them in for store credit.
