Yasha goby in a 12g?

Hi i have a 12g reef right now. I currently have 1 SMALL YWG (about 1.5 inches), i was wondering if i'd be able to also add a yasha goby? If not because of the YWG, is a 12g big enough for JUST a yasha goby? I'd really like to have both, but i'm not sure of that compatability in a 12g. Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure that the yashia by itself would be fine, I would prolly even get a cute lil pistol shrimp for it! I had that type of setup in my 14g biocube, w/ 2 picasso clowns. I lost him during a move.
But Idk what the YWG compatibility is.

i've had one for over a year in my 20, as far as room is concerned, they don't need much, just make sure they have the ability to dig a safe burrow, and i would DEF go with a pistol shrimp, awesome to watch them together, so yeah, i would say if you can keep water quality up, go for it, they're great fish, i think i have a vid in my build thread...little red house

ok, i understand i can do it w/o the YWG...but can i do both?
also, what type of pistol shrimp would be best paired w/ a yasha?
I don't want a shrimp that will be hurting corals/ fish/ snails...anything like that. Thanks!

I wouldn't put a yasha with the ywg.The ywg would be too aggressive toward the yasha.I would get a randells or tiger pistol shrimp.

btw, how much would a small yasha goby usually cost? I tried to find them online, but i can't really find any for sale. I'd be buying from an LFS too.

My lfs sells them for $39.99,I am not familiar with the bullseye pistol shrimp. If the bullseye pairs up with gobies it should be fine.Maybe someone with experience with them will chime in.

Yellow watchmen goby grow to be 4-6 inches and might outgrow your 12 gallon tank. A yasha only gets to be 3 or 4 inches. They can both be aggressive and territorial and should be the only bottom dwelling fish in that size of a tank.

As far as the target pistol shrimp goes, I have never seen one pair up with a fish. They are not supposed to be symbiotic with gobies. The store I worked at had some for a long time. The didn't sell because they are pretty shy and never seem to pair. They are very attractive, but without a fish budy, they don't come out nearly as often as tiger or randall's pistol shrimp.

They both will, but the tiger pistol gets around 3 inches. That is close to the adult size of the yasha. I always paired mine up with the randall's. They look really cool together, too. I have a mated pair of yashas with a pair of randall's pistols. They are so awesome and have great colors. Mine get kind of aggressive sometimes. They share a 50 gallon reef with a target mandarin and a long-spined urchin. The urchin grew so fast, and if I could get him out of the tank, he would be in my 90 gallon reef. Sorry. Getting a little off topic.

I have a yasha goby (49.99) paired up with a tiger pistol in my 12 gallon for 7 months now.

They would not pair up at first had the pistol before the yasha so I decided I was going to buy a randells pistol to pair up with my yasha.

I bought the randell pistol got home tore the tank apart to catch my tiger pistol to take back to the LFS. I got him caught got the tank back together and put the randell in.

The randell lasted 3 hrs and died so I said ok screw it and threw my tiger back in. The next day my goby and tiger had paired up. It must of been because I changed all the rocks around im not sure.

My yasha is shy but will dart out for food and as a pair it is a lot of fun to watch them help each other out.

The pistol has not hurt a thing he digs a lot but I dont have any coral on the sand they are on the rocks.
I have 2 sexy shrimp with them also and he hasn't even hurt them or my hermit crabs or snails.

I would get a yasha and a randells pistol and not look back it would be a great choice.

the randell stays small my tiger is 3 inches he is as big as my yasha.

Im happy with my tiger though you cant go wrong either way just most people that have a yasha have a randell.
