Just put a deposit with Midwest Custom Aquarium to build me an 84x30x30 made of 3/4" acrylic with 2 overflows. I will be building my own stand and canopy and will be relying heavily on this site for asistance and advice.

I now have about a month to get things ready. I will post progress as it comes!!

Ken nice to see you back again .. hopefully this time it will be your last tank.. I miss that 500g of yours and I think that is the biggest one I saw as far as reefers goes.. Goodluck and for sure it will be sweet like your other tank...

Made a change today, going with external overflows!!

I think this is one of the best things people can do. I have an external and if you have the room for it this is the only way to do it. Looking forward to the pics.
Tom.

Almost finished the stand. I am certainly not a carpenter and made a few mistakes. 1st, I decided to make it a little larger than the tank but I didn't take into consideration that the edge was giving most of the support. So I had to screw in some extra 2x6 for support. 2nd, For the life of me I cannot make a square or make 2 45 degree edges mate!!! 3rd, I used 4x4s for posts. They are notched on the outside edges and framed with 2x6s. I then ran a 2x6 along the inside of the 4x4s front to back and secured everything with this big azz lag screws.. This is now blocking me from finishing the side openings. I was going to knotch and screw 2x6s vertically, but now I have to figure something else. I'm definately screwing on 1 piece of plywood, maybe 2, then foam board.

All in all it looks decent. I enjoy DIY enough that the imperfections don't bother me!!

Changed sumps yesterday. Cleaned, broke and repaired skimmer. Barracuda is not hooked up yet and neither is the chiller or calcium reactor.

Now I'm working on getting all the plumbing together for the drains and returns. 1 1/2" drains, and the 1 1/2" return line will feed 3 1" returns in the tank.

Here's a shot of the sump so far.

that's a pretty awesome tank, I can't wait to get to see it finished. I'm building a stand of my own right now and haven't done much wood work before, did you have any designs to go off of, or just drew them yourself?

Well, this is where my ADD comes in. I had a general idea about the stand in my head and designed it as I went along. Now I find myself correcting mistakes!!
