Yearly Costs

I just got through ordering my beginning of the year supplies for my 150 reef & my 65 FOWLR. The total was $230 which should get me through July of 2010.

What does it cost everyone to just maintain their tanks?

To keep my 72 and 125 going I think I spend about $300 a year, that's not including the electricity though.

take the size of tank and put a 0 behind it. 75gal=$750. I suppose you could do it cheaper if you don't have halides, do water changes, feed fish or corals, upgrade equipment, change media and don't forget bulbs. I am sure I am missing a few things.

Is that a yr sps? wow maybe i need to reconsider the 180!!!!! May be this yr ill keep a talley as to what i put in the 180 as far as $ gos!

that is my guess on entire costs for my 75sps(more a mixed reef now). electricity for 2x54w t5 and 2x250 fixture bumped bill by $20/month with halides running 6 hours a day. plus vortech w/backup, 7"fan, fuge light, return pump, skimmer, phosban reactor, 2 heaters, moonlight, and 2 powerheads in sump for detritus. One bucket of salt, 150gallons of water change, 2 t5 and 2 halide bulbs a year. It all adds up. I consider new equipment and livestock maint. fees as well, but I only get a few things a year.
