Yellow Candy Hogfish

I am looking for peoples experiences with this fish. I would like to get one. I am concerned about it jumping out of the tank. I currently have egg crate covering my tank. Will egg crate keep this fish from carpet surfing?

Youll need a 1/4" mesh cover for your tank if you want to prevent it from jumping out. They stay pretty small, but can get a tad on the agressive side. They are very colorful and easy to care for. What size aquarium are you adding it to? What's your stock list?

I have a 75 gallon tank. 2 clowns, a small kole tang, a sunrise dottyback, and a Randall's shrimp goby. Has anyone made a cover with 1/4" mesh that can also accommodate a hang on back overflow box and 2 returns that are going over the top of the tank?

+1 on the mesh. I've had two carpet surf and one of them make it through doubled up 1/2" mesh. Go with the 1/4" and maybe even double that.

Haven't had the fish, but I bought a role of window screen and thumb tacked it to the inside of my canopy and plastic rim of the aquarium. Just cut holes for fans. For the overflow box, go to Lowe's (because HDs in my area don't have it) and buy a roll of plastic mesh gutter guard. Total for both items shouldn't be much more than $10.
