Yellow Candy Hogfish

38G Nuvo, about 31G of water total.
The main display part is 24 inches left to right, 14 inches front to back, and 19 inches high. I believe the display is holding about 25-26G

Right now I have 2 Black Clowns, 1 Starry Blenny

So, would a Yellow Candy Hogfish work out well?
I want something peaceful, that doesn't hide. All the sites say 30 gallon minimum, but I'm reading a bit about how they can be aggressive later in life and maybe eat clams.

Anyone have experience?

I'd be interested in what others have to say as well. I was eyeing on earlier but don't really know much about them.

I assume they're a bit Wrassish, which makes me kind of hesitant putting it in that size tank, but like I said, everyone basically is saying 30G.

4 inch max

Everyone lists it as "Peaceful" and "Reef Safe" as well. I know everything is hit or miss.

I have one in my 150g reef. Started with one. Model citizen. Added two more. The original became a dominant male, and also became very aggressive to the other fish in the tank (almost killed my cleaner wrasse). Removed him and one female, leaving me with one large female at this point. She isn't too aggressive, but I wouldn't call her peaceful at all.

if I could catch mine, you could have him! over a year with no problems, but now...constantly chasing other wrasses...no real damage, so far...but I want him and peppermint hog out!

BTW, I recently saw one that looked over 5"

I always end up catching mine whenever I catch other fish. She's always in the trap!

last week i tore half my tank down to get mine out. when i first got one it was small and passive. after about six months it turned into a tank bully tormenting every fish...

beat the hell out of my swalesi basslet and killed my pigmy angel. i say don't do it.

Well, after reading a few threads about these guys, I'd say most of the comments are quite negative.

Weird that most places list it as Peaceful/Reef Safe and not "Caution"

Think I'll pass

I have one and it is mean. Keeps my Orange Back Fairy Wrasse in the corner and keeps my Barnical Blennies stuck down in holes. Funny he jumped out a few days ago during a feeding. I found him a few minutes latter and trough him back in the tank. Should have shipped him back to LFS while I had the chance. No way I'm catching him now wihout breaking all my Acros!
