yellow clown goby not eating

I have a small yellow clown goby that I have had for a little over a week. I have tried feeding him frozen food, live brine, live brine w/garlic, copepods, flakes and pellets. He takes everything I put into the tank to feed him into his mouth, then spits it out. What can I do to get him to eat?

When I got mine I was worried that he wouldn't eat either because the lfs told me they are hard to feed because of their size but I feed Rod's Food which has a lot of different things plus it has sizes ranging from the smallest fish to the larger ones. When I feed Rod's my clown goby comes out of his hiding spot like a bullet and starts devouring everything he can find. I'm pretty sure Rod's has cyclopeeze in it too so try that and see if it works.

I would use the frozen, but gemmasicolo has a good point. Rods food is good as well and I think it contains cyclopeeze. I have had a yelloow clown goby for over 1 1/2 years and at 1st he did not eat much, but now he is eating PE Mysis that are half his size. Try some PE mysis, expensive but it is suppose to be the best.

The two foods that I've never seen a fish reject are PE Mysis and Rogger's Food. I'm surprised that it rejected live brine shrimp, as I've never seen them reject that either, however it isn't good to feed regularly because of their poor nutritional profile.

Good luck! Most people with SPS and clown gobies would prefer that their gobies didn't eat and starved themselves to death :( The unknown-until-too-late hazards of having a clown goby in an SPS tank.

They don't "eat" the SPS polyps, they just love terrorizing them and picking on them and making nests in the colony where they've "evicted" the polyps from their homes.

which i think is really cool. if i had a huge tank with large colonys i would definately get one

I have a green clown goby that loves to pretend he's my hawk fish and snatch some mysis or brine, he stays in a yellow cup coral and leaves the SPS alone, my buddy has one we got at the same time and he eats cyclopese, it all depends on your tank, fish's preferences and the aggressiveness of your other tank mates.
