Yellow Colt Coral???

A local fish store was having a 25% off Sale yesterday so i went to check out what they had. Ended up buying 1 of 3 bright yellow colt corals that they had on sale. Today i did some research on yellow colt corals and what i am mainly finding is that yellow colt corals are usually dyed that color. Is there a true yellow colt coral or are they all just dyed. Feeling like i got suckered, at the moment as if there is no such thing as a true yellow colt, the Fish store should have known that.

No, such thing,
Ive seen them dyed pink also.
After a while the dye will fade and it will look like a reg. colt coral.
They also dye anemones .

If it's BRIGHT yellow, then it is probably dyed. There are some Sinularia soft coral that have a golden yellow color though. LFS's call many different corals "Colt" so it may be difficult to tell. Try to get a decent picture of it for us and post it.

Might be nepyhia (i suck at spelling). lol

yes. The dye will stress or kill the coral, not to mention what it might do to the tank. Esp. with repeated treatments. Dyeing corals is something unethical sellers do to justify charging more for a common coral. There are a lot of posts here on RC about dyeing and the effect it has on corals. Search function is down tho =/

i just bought a green one of those for my girlfriend and its not a colt but i can't remember what they called it and can't get a deffinate name

Well, I think my colt was definately died yellow, it is almost white now. I Sorta like the white, but will it stay white, not sure cause ive never seen an all white colt before either
