Yellow Coris Wrasse under the sand

I purchased a yellow coris wrasse on Friday and have not seen him since the second he entered the water. I understand that these guys bury themselves when frightened. My question is, how long should I expect to go before seeing him? At what point do I get worried?

I never saw my coris for the 1st 7 days...then all of a sudden he was out front and eating. Don't give up yet.

I'm tagging along. Same exact thing happened to me and it has been about 2 weeks now. No possible way for him to jump out, and i have yet to see him. I just bought another yellow wrasse today and going to give it one more shot.

I never did see the yellow wrasse again. Last Thursday I bought a coris wrasse. He immediately was out and about turning over shells and rocks. The next day he got picked on by my Falco hawkfish, and the wrasse went under cover early in the afternoon. The next day he was only out for a couple of hours, though he did eat frozen mysis when it was nea him. The last two days he has not come out at all.

Any suggestions?

I have had 2 yellow coris wrasse's. Both went immediatley to the sand/rocks. Never saw the first one again. I picked up a second yesterday and he went right for the sand and wiggled his way into the sand/rocks. Has anyone heard of maybe something from the clean up crew killing a fish that hides in the sand? Like maybe the bristle worms? I have a lot of these. They do wonders for clean up in my tank at night. Just curious. Pretty sure if this wrasse is not seen again, I will never buy another one again.

dont ever worry if they burrow in the sand as its their safe area and they are frightened ,or physically hurting for being caught and shipped . all you should do now is let nature take its course . never disturb one that is under the sand as it will only add to the stress that he is under .

I got a christmas wrasse 2 weeks ago. I didn't see him for about 8 days. Thought for sure he was a goner. He's now out in the open more than he hides.

I have a red one at work who hides most of the day and comes out for food in the mid around the same time every day. When I first received him in he went straight for the sand and I didn't see him for 3 days. I originally had him in with an Arc Eye but he got his *** beat so I had to move him.

they need the time that they burrow under the sand to recover and heal as you can see . as i always say let nature take its coarse ,usually its for the good and i hope everyone has great luck with these guys as they are so beautiful and rewarding .
