Yellow Coris Wrasse

I am looking to add another wrasse to my 90g. Since selling an aggressive yellow tang to make room for a purple yang, I miss the vibrant yellow. I'm interested in a yellow coris wrasse. My LFS owner said he hasn't had much success with them - they just don't last that long. Anyone had success keeping these long term?

Tankmates would be some tangs, a melanarus wrasse, clowns, flame angel, copperband, and Royal gramma. I have a pretty deep sand bed and my melanarus has done fine with other wrasses.

Or any other ideas for vibrant yellow fish?

Let me know.

I've had mine about 2 years and he is one of my favorite fish. I've always considered them very hardy and pretty easy. Mine eats everything.

So laid back and so very beautiful. They are a super bright yellow and as they get older they acquire vivid orange and green stripes on their head. I have mine in with 6 other wrasse including a Vrolik's(very similar to a melanarus) and there are no problems. Very beautiful and under appreciated fish IMO.

I, too, have found H. chrysus to be quite hardy and long lived. It will do well with your mix of fish, although I would recommend using a social acclimation box to introduce it to your tank, as a melanurus wrasses may or may not be aggressive towards other wrasses.

i've only had mine for a few months but he's been healthy from the start (came from LA), eats like every meal is his last and next to a yellow tang, i don't think there's another fish out there that can compare to the neon yellow color. very peaceful, too. i have 3 other wrasses, including a vrolik's also. :)
