yellow eye tang

I got a yellow eye tang from the LFS and the fish isnt swimming just laying on the sand.? All my levels test out fine???? any ideas? I floated him with a drip systems for 3 hours???

did you have a heater in what you were dripping him into? 3 hrs is a long time and the temp could have easily changed a lot depending on what you house and/or tank is.

He was in the sump. i checked the temp tank was 79 and he was in 78.5. I use a pinpoint unit. It looked like he was having a hard time breathing?

Maybe he was struggling breathing because of lack of oxygen? Drop an airstone or something and see if that helps.

Also, is he eating?

How did it look at the store.
It could very well just be a bad acclimation. Not your fault, it happens unfortunetly.

not sure I understand this, as long as his temp is stable and in was the same when he went in it shouldn't be an issue. I personally run my tank at 78-79 and I know a lot of others that run them up to 82 with no issues.

A stable temperature of 78 - 79 is fine.
