I have a yellow fiji leather that has grown to about 6 or 7 inches when fully open. How big do they grow? If it keeps getting bigger it's going to take over the whole front of my tank?
From experience they get much bigger than that. I had one over 12" that I ended up having to pass on to someone with a much larger tank. Another option is to frag it. But take care to use sterile instruments to do so and give both the frag and the mother colony dips in iodine and keep them in clean water with good indirect flow to keep infection from setting in.
Wow! That is a nice one. I am sort of in the same situation with my Tyree toadstool. It is starting to get big and is encroaching on other coral's territory. I keep toying with the idea of fragging it but I do not want to screw up a good thing!
My clown seems to like it also.
Is that a big dark blue damsel? I had one eat every polyp off a HUGE toadstool, took it 4-5 months to recover. left about everything else in the tank alone, including the 3 fiji yellows. Just a heads up.
Looks like a nice one! Mine was that size and it was getting too big so I cut half off with some scissors and gave the piece to my friend. Took a couple days but it was back to normal. Just a bit smaller.
