i had one for about a year and when i moved last year i lost him. he got majorly stressed out. i only moved to the other side of my neighborhood.
he ate flake, brine & mysis. i had him in a 30 cube with about 3 inches of live sand subrate and lots of live rock. he had a great personality. it was very sad. i havent replaced him because i have combined my smaller tanks into bigger ones.
the only place for him would be in the 200 reef but my lawnmower blenny is very agressive.
what so you only had 3 inches worth of sand, on the internet it says it needs a very deep substrate of at least 4 inches. So he was doing fine in the sandbed youoffered him then??? i love these fish but i think it would be ugly when i set up my nano cube 24 to have a really deep sandbed.
it would probably look funny in a nano. i have had deeper sand beds in my bigger tanks.
he was fine in 3 inches. he would stack hermit shells and pieces of rubble around his hole. he burrowed diagonally so he had a front & back door to his cave.....pretty funny......
i just realised how deep three inches is, and i don't know weather i could do that in a 24 nano cube. It would look weird. maybe ill just go ahead with it
would the tank have to be 3 inches all over, or could i just like piles of 3 inches in certain places. if i did this, could he move the sand around to his burrow??
ive had one for about a week now and he eats fine, my sandbed is about 3.5-5 incehs in some places, I would recommend you make sure your top is covered and your rock structure will be stable if he tunnels under it
