Does any one have a yellow headed jaw fish in there reef tank? mine is good most of the time but he is NEVER hapy with his hole he digs so he dings and digs and digs and has caused some of my LR to start to sink into the sand bed. any way to stop this? i DONT want to get rid of him hes our favorite fishy

yep, that's their routine. You might try wiggling your rock down into the sand so it's it's on the glass bottom to avoid an avalanche.

I put my first level of base rock directly on the glass on the bottom of the tank, than added the sand. It can't sink anywhere or topple over from the digging.

I have a DSB so putting LR on the bottom wasn't an option. I put eggcrate over the glass, DSB, then buried just under the surface, 2 1/2 inch pieces of PVC. When I put in the LR, I placed it with key pieces over the PVc and it anchored it really well. You would have to wait until you took your fish out to do this as it would release a lot of yuk in your tank...but something to think about for the future.

If you want him to stop digging you will have to get rid of him. Many times, jawfish will keep moving burrows for a long time until they finally settle in a place for a while.

As all have said, jawfish live in the sand and work on their burrow all the time. It is there normal behaviour

I love the little guy im just gonna have to figure out how to sure up the rock. im afraid im gonna come home and hes gonna be squished from his own digging .. i did move soem of his burrowing rocks a bit made him really mad haha who knew fish held a grudge. and hes diging a "safer" hole now...
