In you past experiences....is it necessary to "spot" feed the jawfish? I had a blue spot and he rarely came out of his hole to feed. I always had to feed him at the entrance of his cave.....
I would say in a crowded tank you may need to spot feed close to where they live after you've put food in for the other fish. They are more than likely hesitant to come out and venture far when there are a lot of other fish darting about.
