yellow sebae? dyed?

65g Ritteri Tank
Was looking to get a purple sebae, and I've been checking liveaquaria every day and I saw this sebae. It was yellow. All I have heard of these "yellow" sebae's is that they are always died and will slowly pass with time. I currently have a purple tip crispa and has thrived in my tank. If I were to get this anemone would it just be a waste of money?

If someone likes it and beats me to it, no biggie, I got time....

I just called LiveAquaria and they assured me that they would not sell dyed anemones...I dunno, tuff call. If it stays up for a couple more days I might pursue it. Would really like a purple one though.

On the other hand...you dont really see a lot of these, what a see-saw I am

yea..def new it was a malu, that reassures me that if I pull the trigger, it will be yellow. I bet it grows green under actinic lighting.. good size too

I have 4 yellow sebae anemones they are not died I feed them freeze dried krill
they are doing great

Would like to see pictures of that. But, not sure if you would have time -- since you manged to make over 25 posts in a couple hours to get to 50....hmmmmmmm.

good thing I held off..I just purchased this beaut and will arrive on friday. Although LiveAquaria made a little goof saying that it is under 250W DE Radiums....I wonder how it will look under my 250w SE Radiums.

my lfs has been getting those on a regular basis, some have bright orange-red columns some don't, the one pictured didn't. However i'm betting DD has it wrong and they're small H. aurora. A few members of my area reef club are currently keeping them.

t4zalews, that's a nice green H.malu, please post pics of it when you get it.

so my sebae arrived today... no heat pack, the water was freezing... not a good friday. I currently have it drip acclimating and will be for over 2 hours. I can see the mouth, I dont see anything floating in the water (guts) but overall doesnt look good. Do you think it can make it???

If it was my anemone, I'd get it into warmer water quickly. Sometimes the conditions they are in can be worse that a sudden improvement. You may want to check with DD to see what they advise. You don't want to do anything that may jeopardize the guarantee.

i talked with a lady on the phone, and she said to just acclimate it for a long time...didnt think to ask to put it right in the tank

maybe I should call back

wow..i really hope this anemone makes it...its got sick color. I got too impatient and worried about the cooler water, so put it in the tank after about 1.5 hours of acclimating. I nestled it by a rock where my last sebae took hold. (Turned it in because this one was coming in) I feel as if the mouth is in the act of closing, hopefully as more time passes it continues to regenerate. I can see the sides of it starting to curl, so it still is responsive which is a good sign. Note: pic is under actinics with the white balance set to it

It's hard to tell what the anemone will do over the next 24 hours. If it makes you feel any better, I had a haddoni and two LTA's that spent about 24 hours in water that was about 45 degrees. They survived.

I'm finding it harder to believe that this anemone that was quarentined for like a month at LiveAquaria, would die because of 5 hours of bad conditions. I feel confident that the mouth is slowly closing and that this anemone will make it.

I will post pictures tomorrow of the anemone, hopefully it settles down and starts to open up. Like I said...this thing is really BRIGHT in person.

if you had a carpet survive 45 degrees...that makes me feel real confident that this will make it

foot hasnt attached and not real sticky yet..but looks great today. Mouth is nice and tight..has some ruffles in the mantle, and tentacles are extended.
